Students Learning "Sugar Sugar"

I can hold mallets correctly. I can play a xylophone and metallophone. I can name which instruments are metal and wood.

Grant Wood 1st grade students work with Mrs. Pratt to learn a chant called "Sugar Sugar". Students read two rhythms and then transferred them to the instruments. While they were at the instruments Mrs. Pratt talked to them about the difference between the metal and wood sound. The xylophones played the rhythm they spoke while the metallophones played a quarter, quarter, rest, rest rhythm. More pictures
